Fun was the credo of the 18 ambitious Munich jazz musicians who met a good 25 years ago to create the HARD DAYS NIGHT BIGBAND. Founded as an after-work big band, the band quickly developed into a permanent fixture in the Munich big band scene. Regular gigs in Munich’s jazz clubs and appearances all over Bavaria consolidated their reputation as a grooving big band with unbridled joy of playing. Soon they were giving concerts with guest stars of world renown such as Claudio Roditi, Bobby Shew or Jay Ashby and Kim Nazarian.

The musical concept developed from a fun band for after-work fun to a 20-piece big band with a clear profile and a focus on contemporary big band sound, supported by the accomplished singer Petra Scheeser. In addition to compositions and arrangements by Bob Mintzer, Gordon Goodwin and Pat Metheny, among others, the band now plays numerous arrangements of its own.
